Pearlism

Physical

Just thought this was interesting. A broader term than Atheism. Rejects the concept of faith and is defined by what it does believe rather than what it doesn’t. I think this is what I’ll call myself now. This also applies to my political views and everything else.

  1. Hi,

A few questions came to mind while watching the video. Would you say that the scientific method is more or less a pragmatic test for truth? If so, how does this avoid the fallacy of petitio principii? The basic assumption seems to be cogito ergo sum, using this as our first principle how can we avoid solipsism? Wouldn’t the scientific method need a different FP to justify or rather account for other “minds”? Looking forward to your response.

    BBG.

Ah, it would better be described as a test for higher probability, but ya.

If so, how does this avoid the fallacy of petitio principii?
I see no implication of it. Explain to me how you do.

Solipsism goes as far to say that nothing exists outside of the mind when all that is really implied is that we don’t know. I actually would go as far to say that even if nothing exists outside my mind, it is entirely irrelevant because what I perceive is the only thing which gives my existence any real meaning.

Wouldn’t the scientific method need a different FP to justify or rather account for other “minds”?
Sorry, I don’t know what “FP” stands for.
